Oh man! A few weeks ago, I was feeling quite uninspired and like I had nothing to say. So, I signed up for Blog5. Now, the email came in my box and its time to pay up. So, here goes my best effort:
An Ode to Growing Old
Did it happen while I slumbered?
Or watching my favorite show?
When exactly did the number
Of my years so slowly grow?I'm not sure I really noticed
When I began to add on pounds.
It was long before I wrote this,
And now it really quite astounds. One sunny day I plucked a hair of gray
From atop my auburn crown.
"It could not be! It was just May!
Where did summer go?" I queried with a frown.Yet, lets not fret. I will dye my hair,
I can eat green things and exercise.
These things can be fixed and don't compare
To the lies of a much bigger size:
My eggs, they will not fertilize. No one ever told me I did not have the time
To spend my 20's in employment and enjoyment
Working on work and drinking drinks with lime.
Though fun was had, precious time was spent. Now, my doctor shows me the statistics
And says no more time is to be squandered
If I want him to help us fix this
There are decisions which must be pondered.Deep on the inside, in my heart and brain
Nothing has changed, it all stays the same
I am who I am, I will always remain
Pretty much the same as the way I came.
Nicely done. Thanks for the tip. I think I get so many jumbled up thoughts that by the time I sit down I end up with just a weird case of tourettes syndrome.
