Yesterday Mt. St. Helens let out a pretty impressive little burst. It brings me back to when I was in 5th grade and she REALLY blew her top. I happened to live withing the area affected and there was this girl in my class (who wasn't exactly in the gifted program) who thought that light gray dusting all over the ground was snow and ate some of it. We all laughed at her. But, I digress...The volcanic activity may be one explanation for why my students were all blowing their tops yesterday, too. My very first teaching practicum was with a very old, crotchety teacher who was convinced you could predict changes in the weather by the behavior of children. I am thinking of contacting the US Geologic Survey to offer my class for monitoring. All in the name of early warning. Any little thing I can do to help...But, back on track...If it was only my class, I might not be so convinced. But the WHOLE SCHOOL was experiencing a lot of seismic fluctuation yesterday! (the rest of the details had to be deleted)
